Do you sing in the shower?
Sing car karaoke?
Want to sing but worry about 'having no voice' or 'not having sung since school'?
We can help. There are NO auditions, NO judgements and NO need to be able to read music, just lots of singing and lots of fun!
Why not come and give us a try? The first session is FREE and after that it is just £6 per week, payable each half term in advance.
You can be sure of a very warm welcome: we are famous locally for being a lovely bunch of friendly people. We hope to see you there!

Who are BATTLE COMMUNITY SINGERS?
We are a community choir founded in 2015 and we welcome anybody who loves to sing, regardless of ability.
We always say that we are 'from the community, in the community and for the community' and we try very hard to encourage Battle and surrounding villages to share our love of singing.
Each year you will find us singing in Care Homes; in supermarkets; at Rotarian Christmas Lunches for local senior citizens and we organise a day festival for local choirs called 1066 Voices Together. We also give concerts, raise money for good causes and also strongly support Battle Festival. 2019 saw us give a triumphant joint concert with Whatlington Singers at St Mary’s as part of the Festival. The church rocked!

We are a busy choir which has a lot of fun! All this would definitely not be possible without our brilliant leader, AILSA VINSON and our highly talented accompanist STEPHEN PAGE. Both have an intuitive understanding of music and manage to bring out the best in us all.

What do we sing?
Well, after our fun and energising warm ups, we sing all sorts of things! We range from 'The Greatest Showman' to Queen, to Simon and Garfunkel, to 'My Fair Lady' to folk songs, spirituals and you name it! There really is something for everybody and we are always open to suggestions. Why not come along to a taster session and see for yourself?
How can I find out more?
Always happy to chat about singing.
Or just turn up at one of our practices - you will always be welcome! See location on the MAP at the bottom of the page.
Q: How do I know when you are singing?
A: We sing in term time, on a Wednesday 7-9pm and our term dates for October 2019 - July 2020 are:
30th October - 11th December 2019
8th January - 12th February 2020
26th February - 1st April 2020
22nd April - 20th May 2020
3rd June - 15th July 2020
Q: Do I have to sing in a concert even if I don’t want to?
A: Absolutely not! You will be very welcome to sing with us in concert if you want, but there is no pressure at all.
Q: I see from the photos that when you sing in public you wear a uniform. Will I have to buy that?
A: Relax! We give you a free Battle Community Singers t-shirt if you are going to sing in a concert and you can pair that with black trousers or a black skirt of your own and a red accessory, may be a scarf or red shoes?
Q: I am shy. Will people talk to me?
A: You will be made very welcome if you come to a practise session. We all remember our first time of pitching up and not knowing anybody and I will introduce you to people. We all wear name labels so you know who we are too! Speaking personally, I have made two really important friends at choir and I am very shy.
Q: I really can’t sing, are you sure you want me as a member?
A: Yes, yes, yes! Don’t worry, there are no auditions and no judgements and you will be surprised to find with time just how well you can sing.
Q: Do I have to pay for the music?
A: No, it comes from your weekly subscription and you get to take the music home too, so you can sing it in the bath!
